Kyrenia is the main northern harbour town 15 minutes drive from the apartment and is lovely. The actual harbour itself is really old and you can spend time looking at the boats and soaking in the sun eating at the really nice restaurants situated along the front. The harbour has the main castle which can be explored and has a museum which is quite interesting. The castle dates back to the Nights Templar and St john and has had many occupants throughout its history.
The main shopping areas extend to the back of the quay area and the streets are pretty typical in that they are narrow and crowded with too many cars. There are small markets tucked away which are worth a visit. The town has expanded over the years to be a bit of sprawl but it does mean that it is more interesting to find places.
